Overview
Project policies allow the enforcement of good development practices among a team. By setting policies, you can, for
example, minimize problems that may be encountered when integrating work by setting a policy that requires developers
to update their work areas with the project's recommended baselines before they deliver work to the shared stream. This
practice reduces the possibility of introducing code defects.

Project policies are set when a UCM project is created. They can be modified at any time.

This tool mentor is applicable when running Microsoft Windows.

    Tool Steps
There are two procedures for setting policies for UCM projects.

    -
From the Windows task bar, select Start > Programs > Rational Software > Rational ClearCase >
        Project Explorer.

    -
From the File menu, select New > Project to start the New Project Wizard. When prompted,
select the policies to enforce for this project.

      Refer to the Managing Software
    Projects online Help for details.

    -
From the Project Explorer, locate the project to modify.

    -
Right-click on the project and select Policies.

Click on the different tabs to display and select project policies.

Refer to the context-sensitive help topic for the Policies dialog for a description of each project policy.

Refer to the chapter "Setting policies"
in the manual IBM Rational ClearCase Guide to Managing Software Projects for more information about policies
that can be set for UCM projects.
